You will need:

3.5mm needles

4mm needles

25grams dk yarn

 

Abbreviations

K- knit

P-purl

K2tog = knit 2 stitches together

Cast on 74 stitches using 3.5mm needles and dk yarn.

Rows 1-5: *k1, p1 repeat from * until end of the row.

Rows 6-10: *p1, k1 repeat from * until end of the row

Repeat rows 1-10 once more, then change to 4mm needles

Row 21: *K1, p1 repeat until end of the row  

Repeat this row until the hat measures 5inches from cast on.

Decrease

Row 1: *k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k2tog repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1,

Row 2: k1, p2, *k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p2 repeat from * until last 6 stitches, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1,

Row 3: *k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, k2tog, repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1

Row 4: k1, p3, *k1, p1, k1, p3 repeat from * until last 4 stitches, k1, p1, k1, p1

Row 5: *k1, p1, k1, p1, k2tog repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1

Row 6: k1, p2, * k1, p1, k1, p2 repeat from * until last 4 stitches, k1, p1, k1, p1

Row 7: *k1, p1, k1, k2tog repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1

Row 8: k1, p3, *k1, p3 repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1

Row 9: *k1, p1, k2tog repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1

Row 10: *k1, p2 repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1

Row 11: *k1, k2tog repeat from * until last 2 stitches, k1, p1

Row 12: purl

Row 13: k2tog, repeat until end of row

Cut off a long tail and thread through remaining stitches. Pull tight and sew down seam. Fold up brim.
