Change to 4mm needles

Row 4: purl

Cast on 18 stitches using 4mm needles and cotton yarn

Rows 1-2: knit

Row 3: k1, kfb, k14, kfb, k1 (20sts)

Row 4 and alternative rows: knit

Row 5: k1, kfb, k16, kfb, k1 (22sts)

Row 7: knit

Row 9: k1, k2t, k16, k2, k1 (20sts)

Row 11: k1, k2t, k14, k2t, k1(18sts) 

Row 12-13: knit

Cast off and weave in the ends.

Sew on 2 plastic buttons of 10mm or bigger.

Cast on 3 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn 
you can use any colours you like but I love using cupcake yarns for this as the colours change as you knit

Row 1: K1, kfb, k1 (4sts)

Row 2: k1, kfb, k2, (5sts)

Row 3: k1, kfb, k3 (6sts)

Continue in this pattern increasing the second stitch in at the beginning of every row until the blanket measures the right width you want.

Decrease

Row 1: k1, k2t, knit rest of row

Repeat this row until you have 3 stitches left.

Cast off and weave in the ends.





I used this pattern whist making a blanket for my friend, I used different colours to give a striped effect through it.

Fathers day mug cosy


Father’s Day mug cosy

  


Mug cosy

Cast on 17 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn in either navy/royal blue or grey

Knit in garter stitch until it measures 16cm from beginning

create the writing panel

Row 1: k2, p13, k2

Row 2: knit

repeat these 2 rows until the cosy measures 27cm from the beginning.

knit 5 rows and cast off. 


Cape

Now to add the cape, knit in red for blue cosy and black for the grey cosy.

Along the top of the garter stitch pick up 25 stitches.

Knit until the cape reaches the bottom of the cosy. 




Optional

Along the rest of the top edge you can pick up stitches and cast off loosely or crochet along the top in the matching colour to the cape

writing

In the front panel (stocking stitch panel) sew super dad in a contrasting colour.

Weave in all ends and stitch the top and bottom together leaving a hole for the mug handle.

Fits most mugs. If your mug is bigger or smaller reduce or add rows.

You will need 2 colours of yarn

Hat

Cast on 80 stitches using 3.5mm needles and Dk yarn in main colour

Row 1: k1, p1, repeat until end of row

Repeat until you have 8 rows of rib.

Change to 4mm needles

Row 9: knit

 Row 10: purl

Change colour

Row 11: knit

Row 12: k1, p1 until end of the row

Row 13: p1, k1 until end of the row

Repeat rows 12 & 13 for 7 more rows (9 total in seed stitch)

Change back to main colour and stocking stitch

Knit in Stocking stitch until it measures 5.5 inches from the beginning.

Decrease:  

Row 1: k3, k2tog, repeat until end of row.

Row 2: purl

Row 3: k2, knit 2 together, repeat until end of row. 

Row 4: purl 

Row 5: k1, k2 tog, repeat until end of row. 

Row 6: purl.
