for preemie blanket 111stitches 21x26inches and 225grams dk yarn 

Baby blanket 151 stitches 29x29inches 300grams 

Cot blanket 203 stitches 36x36 inches 400grams 

Rows 1-21: knit

Row 22: k10, p1, *k1, p3 repeat from * until the last 12 stitches, k1, p1, k10

Row 23 and alternatives rows: knit

Row 24: k13, *p1, k3 repeat from * until the last 14 stitches, p1, k13

Row 26: k10, *p3, k1, repeat from * until the last 13 stitches, p3, k10

Row 28: k10, p2, *k3, p1 repeat from * until the last 15 stitches, k3, p2, k10

You will need:

4mm needles

9grams dk yarn

 

Abbreviations

k- knit

p-purl

K2tog = knit 2 stitches together

 

Cast on 54 stitches using 3.5mm needles and dk yarn.

Row 1: *k1, p1 repeat from * until end of the row.

Repeat this row until the hat measures 1 inches from cast on, change to 4mm needles and carry on with row 1 until hat measures 3 inches from cast on.

Decrease

Row 1: *k1, p1, k1, p1 k2tog, repeat from * until end of the row

Preemie- 127 stitches with 4mm needles and dk yarn - 24x24inches in size and takes 200grams of dk yarn

Baby – 161 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn - 31x31inches in size and takes 300grams of dk yarn

Cot – 201 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn - 38x38 inches and takes 450grams of dk yarn 

Rows 1-21: knit

Row 22: k10, purl until last 10 stitches, k10

Row 23 and alternative rows: knit

Row 24: k10, p1, *k1, p1 repeat from * until last 10 stitches, k10

Rows 26 & 28: k10, purl until last 10 stitches, k10

Repeat rows 23- 28 until blanket reaches near desired length, repeat rows 23-26 once more 

Knit 21 rows and cast off.

Weave in the ends.
