Rainbow hat
You will need 8 colours of dk yarn-
Bright’s - white, violet, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.
Or
pastels - white, purple, violet, pale blue, pale green, pale yellow, pale pink and darker pink.
Hat
Cast on 80 stitches using 3.5mm needles in white
Row 1: k1, p1, repeat until end of row
Repeat until you have 8 rows of rib.
Change to 4mm needles
Row 9: knit
Row 10: purl
Change to violet
Row 11: knit
Row 12: purl
Change to purple
Row 13: knit
Row 14: purl
Change to blue
Row 15: knit
Row 16: purl
Change to green
Row 17: knit
Row 18: purl
Change to yellow
Row 19: knit
Row 20: purl
Change to orange
Row 21: knit
Row 22: purl
Change to red
Row 23: knit
Row 24: purl
Change back to white
Following rows continue in stocking stitch until hat measures 5.5inches from cast on.
Decrease
Row 1: k4, k2tog, repeat until the end of the row.
Row 2: purl
Row 3: knit
Row 4: purl
Row 5: k3, k2tog repeat until the end of the row
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: k2, k2tog repeat until the end of the row
Row 8: purl
Row 9: k1, k2tog repeat until the end of the row
Row 10: purl
Row 11: k2tog repeat until the end of the row
Row 12: purl
Row 13: k2tog repeat until the end of the row
Cut of length of yarn and draw through remaining stitches, pull tight and sew down seam.
Newborn
You will need 8 colours of dk yarn white, violet, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.
Hat
Cast on 70 stitches using 3.5mm needles in white
Row 1: k1, p1, repeat until end of row
Repeat until you have 8 rows of rib.
Change to 4mm needles
Row 9: knit
Row 10: purl
Change to violet
Row 11: knit
Row 12: purl
Change to purple
Row 13: knit
Row 14: purl
Change to blue
Row 15: knit
Row 16: purl
Change to green
Row 17: knit
Row 18: purl
Change to yellow
Row 19: knit
