Mitred square blanket



 

Cast on 30 stitches using dk yarn and 4mm needles

K2t - knit 2 together 

Tbl= through back loop of stitches

First column

Row 1 and alternate rows: knit

Row 2: k13, k2t, k2t tbl, k13

Row 4: k12, k2t, k2t tbl, k12

Row 6: k11, k2t, k2t tbl, k11

Row 8: k10, k2t, k2t tbl, k10

Row 10: k9, k2t, k2t tbl, k9

Row 12: k8, k2t, k2t tbl, k8

Row 14: k7, k2t, k2t tbl, k7

Row 16: k6, k2t, k2t tbl, k6

Row 18: k5, k2t, k2t tbl, k5

Row 20: k4, k2t, k2t tbl, k4

Row 22: k3, k2t, k2t tbl, k3

Row 24: k2, k2t, k2t tbl, k2

Row 26: k1, k2t, k2t tbl, k1

Row 28: k2t, k2t tbl

Row 29: k2t

Change colour for the next square

Right side facing - With the one stitch left on the needle pick up 14stitches along the top of the square then cast on 15stitches (30stitches total)

Repeat rows 1-29

Continue repeating these steps until you have the desired length.

Following columns

 Start of column - Cast on 15 stitches then pick up 15 stitches along the front right-hand edge of the bottom square. Repeat rows 1-29.

 


Following square, with 1 remaining stitch on the needle pick up 14 stitches along the top of the square then 15 stitches of the right-hand edge of the square on the left.

  

 



Continue until you have the desired number of rows and columns.

 Ideal size is 24x24inches in size 

Edging the blanket: either crochet the edge or pick up stitches around the edge, knit a row and cast off. 


Cast on 60 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn

Change colour of yarn for the next square

Right side facing pick up 29 stitches along the top of the square then cast on 30 stitches, total 60 stitches.

Repeat rows 1-59

Continue these steps for desired length

Column two and following columns cast on 30 stitches and pick up 30 stitches along the front right hand edge of the bottom square. Repeat rows 1-59. for the next square pick up 30 stitches along top of square and another 30 stitches of the right hand edge of the square to the left. look at pictures in the above size for reference.
