You will need 2 colours of yarn
Hat
Cast on 80 stitches using 3.5mm needles and Dk yarn in main colour
Row 1: k1, p1, repeat until end of row
Repeat until you have 8 rows of rib.
Change to 4mm needles
Row 9: knit
Row 10: purl
Change colour
Row 11: knit
Row 12: k1, p1 until end of the row
Row 13: p1, k1 until end of the row
Repeat rows 12 & 13 for 7 more rows (9 total in seed
stitch)
Change back to main colour and stocking stitch
Knit in Stocking stitch until it measures 5.5 inches from the beginning.
Decrease:
Row 1: k3, k2tog, repeat until end of row.
Row 2: purl
Row 3: k2, knit 2 together, repeat until end of row.
Row 4: purl
Row 5: k1, k2 tog, repeat until end of row.
Row 6: purl.
Row 7: knit 2 tog, repeat until end of row.
Cut length of yarn leaving a tail of yarn for sewing
Using a tapestry needle thread through the remaining stitches, draw them
together and sew up seam, using the tails of yarn into the work.
Bow
Casting on 12 stitches, knit in seed stitch until the piece measures 3
inches. Cast off and weave in the ends. Pinch the bow in the middle and wrap
the yarn around tightly. Sew in the end, sew bow onto the hat on the band.
Newborn

So adorable!!! Is there a way to translate to knitting in the round? I'm awful at sewing seams together.
