Fisherman’s rib scarf
Cast on
using 7mm needles and chunky yarn. If you are a tight knitter go up a needle size.
20 stitches for toddler 5.5inches wide
24 stitches for child 6inches wide
34 stitches for adult 8.5inches wide
48 stitches for extra wide adult 13inches wide
Increase
stitches to make wider, keep number of stitches an even amount.
k1b= knit 1
stitch below
Row 1 – slip 1, *k1, p1, repeat until last stitch, k1
Row 2 - slip 1, *k1b, p1 repeat until the last stitch, k1
Repeat row 2 until reached desired length =
35 inches for toddler 114grams 160m/175yards
40 inches for
child 160grams 224m/245yards
60 inches for adult 480grams 672m/735yards
70 inches extra long scarf 520/600grams 840m/918yards
Adding
pockets to your scarf
You can do
this by knitting extra length to your scarf
This is a
great if you forget or have lost your gloves or you just need that extra
warmth.
knit an extra
6 inches for toddler
8-10 inches for child
18 inches for adult
18 inches extra-long scarf
Fold over each
end and sew along the seam to create a pocket.
For
toddler fold
3-inch pocket each end
child fold 4-inch
pocket each end
adult fold 9-
inch pocket each end
you can make
the pockets bigger or smaller to suit your needs.
Cast off and
weave in the ends.
