Pumpkin stem
Cast on 6 stitches using double point 3mm needles
(3 needles or 2 needles and a stitch marker pin) and green dk yarn. For super
chunky pumpkins, with the stem knit it in chunky and 6mm double pointed
needles.
Knit the row, slide the stitches along to the other end of the needle pulling the yarn across the back and knit again. Continue to knit the stem this way creating a tube. Continue until you have knitted 3cm or preferential length
Add the stem
into the gathered stitches and sew it through a couple of times then sew down
the seam. Stuff the pumpkin with toy stuffing, but don’t over stuff. Sew a
running stitch through the bottom and pull tightly closed. Sew a few times to
secure and push the needle through the pumpkin to the top and push the top down
to create the pumpkin shape, sew back and forth a couple of times to secure and
then tie off at the bottom.
