Skill level: Beginner

Materials: For preemie size blanket 150grams/604yards of paintbox simply dk yarn, baby size blanket 230grams/856 yards of dk yarn and for cot size 400grams/1208 yards of dk yarn.

Tools: 4mm knitting needles, scissors and yarn needle

Blanket size when completed:  preemie 21x22in or 53x55cm, baby 30x31in or 76x78cm and cot 38x40in or 96x101cm

Abbreviations in uk terms:

K=knit

p= purl

St= stitches

*=repeat

Gauge/tension: 23stitches and 35 rows = 4x4inches or 10x10cm

 

Cast on 107st for preemie, 151st for baby and 203st for cot blanket  

Rows 1-21: knit

Rows 22, 24, 26, 28 & 30: k10, p3,* k1, p3 repeat from * until last 10st, k10

Row 23 and alternative rows: knit

Row 32: k10, purl until last 10st, k10

Rows 34, 36, 38, 40 & 42: k10, p5, k1, *p3, k1 repeat from * until last 15st, p5, k10

Row 44: k10, purl until last 10st, k10

Repeat rows 21-44 5 more times for preemie, 8 more times for baby and 11 more times for cot size

Knit 21 rows and Cast off weaving in the ends.

Tools: 4mm knitting needles, scissors and yarn needle

Blanket size when completed:  preemie 22x22in or 55x56cm, baby 34x34in or 85x85cm and cot 44x44in or 111x111cm
