Cast on  

Preemie blanket - 125 stitches 20x20inches and 150g dk yarn

baby blanket  - 155 stitches 24x24inches and 180g dk yarn

Cot blanket - 195 stitches 28x28inches and 220g dk yarn 

using 4mm needless and dk yarn

Rows 1-21: knit

Row 22: k10, *p5, k5, repeat from * until last 10 stitches, k10

Rows 23 and alternative rows: knit

Row 24: k15,  *p5, k5, repeat from * until last 15 stitches, k15

Repeat rows 21- 24 until you have reaches the length desired

knit 21 rows and cast off. weave in the ends.
