Ventilator hat without a flap




 

 

Newborn

Cast on 70 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn

Rows 1-8: rib stitch (k1, p1,) repeated across the row.

Row 9: knit

Row 10: k3, purl to last 3 stitches, k3

Row 11: knit

Row 12: k3, purl to last 3 stitches, k3

Row 13: k30, cast off 10, k29

First set of 30 stitches

Rows 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 & 24: k3, p26, k1

Rows 15, 17, 19, 21 & 23: knit

Cut off leaving a long tail to sew in. Join yarn to other set of 30 stitches.

Rows 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 & 24: k1, p26, k3

Rows 15, 17, 19, 21 & 23: knit

Row 24: k30, cast on 10 stitches, k30

Continue in stocking stitch until hat measures 5 inches.

Decrease

Row 1: k4, k2tog, repeat until the end of the row.

Row 2: purl

Row 3: knit

Row 4: purl

Row 5: k3, k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Row 6: Purl

Row 7: k2, k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Row 8: purl

Row 9: k1, k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Row 10: purl

Row 11: k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Row 12: purl

Row 13: k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Cut of length of yarn and draw through remaining stitches, pull tight and sew half way down the seam.

 

 


 

Large preemie

Cast on 60 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn

Rows 1-6: rib stitch (k1, p1,) repeated across the row.

Row 7: knit

Row 8: k3, purl to last 3 stitches, k3

Row 9: knit

Row 10: k3, purl to last 3 stitches, k3

Row 11: k25, cast off 10, k24

First set of 25 stitches

Rows 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 & 22: k3, p21, k1

Rows 13, 15, 17, 19 & 21: knit

Cut off leaving a long tail to sew in. Join yarn to other set of 25 stitches.

Rows 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 & 22: k1, p21, k3

Rows 13, 15, 17, 19 & 21: knit

Row 23: k25, cast on 10 stitches, k25

Continue in stocking stitch until hat measures 4 inches.

Decrease

Row 1: k4, k2tog, repeat until the end of the row.

Row 2: purl

Row 3: knit

Row 4: purl

Row 5: k3, k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Row 6: Purl

Row 7: k2, k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Row 8: purl

Row 9: k1, k2tog repeat until the end of the row

Cut off leaving a long tail to sew in. Join yarn to other set of 21 stitches.

Rows 12, 14, 16, 18 & 20: k1, p17, k3

Rows 13, 15, 17 & 19: knit

Row 21: k21, cast on 8 stitches, k21

Continue in stocking stitch until hat measures 3 inches.

Decrease

Row 1: k4, k2tog, repeat until the end of the row.

Baby blanket 129 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn 200grams and 26x26inches in size

Cot blanket 194 stitches using 4mm needles and dk yarn 350grams and 36x36inches

Rows 1- 21: knit

Rows 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34 & 36: k15, *p8, k5, repeat from * until the last 23 stitches, p8, k15

Row 23 and all alternative rows: knit

Rows 38, 40 & 42: knit

Repeat rows 21- 42 8 x more times for baby blanket and 12 x more times for cot blanket.

Knit 15 more rows.

Cast off and weave in the ends.
